Important Notice Regarding WorkBC Employment Service Delivery in Response to the Threat of Covid-19 Virus

WorkBC Centres in Port Alberni, Tofino, and Ucluelet remain open for business, however, for the health and safety of our clients and staff, services will be offered via telephone and internet technology only. This status will remain in place until the Provincial Health Authority determines that the threat of the Covid-19 virus has passed.

During this time, our Resource Centres are not open for in-person services. Employment Counsellors and all other staff continue to be accessible by phone or email during regular business hours.

Services to job seekers and employers will continue as follows:

  • New online workshops have been added, to help you get prepared to go back to work - more information HERE.
  • All current clients who are receiving WorkBC Employment Services and supports will continue to be able to work with their assigned Employment Counsellor. Please continue to contact your Employment Counsellor as before.
  • Job seekers who require service are asked to contact us at the numbers listed below or on our Contact page, and we will provide assistance as needed.
  • Employers wishing to post jobs can still do so via email, phone, or fax.
  • All other inquiries please contact us via the information listed on our Contact page.

British Columbia

BC - Covid-19 Provincial Support and Information - Frequently updated information on BC supports for employment & finances, child care, transportation, health care, and other services affected by closures or reductions. The BC Emergency Benefit for Workers includes a one-time $1,000.00 payment who lost income because of Covid-19.

Government of Canada Emergency Response Benefit Application page - If you have stopped working because of COVID-19, the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) may provide you with temporary income support. The CERB provides $500 a week for up to 16 weeks. Follow the steps on this page to apply.
