The Alberni-Clayoquot Continuing Care Society is an independent, non-profit organization operating two long-term care Homes (Fir Park Village & Echo Village) in Port Alberni.

We are currently accepting applications for Program Assistant positions.

Position Summary:

  • Assists the Program Coordinator in the preparation, implementation and facilitation of Adult Day Services clients/facility residents’ activities (educational, recreational, and social programs).
  • Carries out ADS/Facility activity programs such as arts and crafts, sports, music, gardening and community outings as directed.  Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for each program.  Teaches the skills needed for activities to clients.  Oversees clients’ activities and reports problems and/or changes to the Coordinator.
Qualifications 

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Completion of a recognized Recreation/Activity Certificate Program plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to teach.
  • Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.
