Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a welcome and friendly visitor centre
  • Communicate to all visitors, stakeholders and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner in-person, via email and through social media
  • Assist visitors with securing activities, ferry sailings, accommodations and park passes as required
  • Remain up to date on as assigned
  • Keep business rack card area maintained and stocked
  • Handle sales transactions for retail; also conducting opening and closing cash procedures
  • Keep merchandise area well stocked; also, storage maintained and orderly
  • Assist stakeholders with marketing packages program for the visitor centre; updating information, ensure they are utilizing the daily availabilities and special offers section
  • Participate in familiarization tours, meetings and training opportunities
  • Uphold Tourism Ucluelet values of a positive inclusive working environment
  • Maintain a tidy appearance and adhere to dress code
  • Any other duties requested by the Visitor Service Supervisor or Executive Director

 

Qualifications 
  • Candidate is between 15-30 years of age
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen
  • Preferred - Experience in hospitality/ tourism/ customer service/sales
  • Previous experience in sales, inventory and cash handling
  • Understanding of social media platforms and on-line search
  • Clear communication skills, written, verbal and phone
  • Knowledge of Apple and Microsoft Operating systems
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Can work independently and in a team environment
  • Highly organized
  • Knowledge of local area
  • Visitor Information Counsellor certificate or Tourism Professional Certification (National) and/or WorldHost® Fundamentals – an asset but not required
  • Second language an asset
