Westcoast Community Resources Society is a charitable organization which shares the community’s vision that every member’s well-being is ensured. We have a number of ministry funded programs providing free and confidential services to community members on the west coast. Transition House offers a safe and welcoming environment to women and children fleeing violence.

Transition House workers provide support, advocacy, information, activities and referrals for resident women and their children. Participates as a team member to ensure safe, healthy, and cohesive transition house operations and facility. This position requires union membership.

Qualifications 
  1. A combination of education and experience in a related human/social service field
  2. Understanding of feminist analysis and the dynamics and causes of violence against women in relationships
  3. Ability to work alone for extended period of time
  4. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills dealing with people in crisis and of different background
  5. Familiarity with West Coast communities
  6. Foster team participation and contribute to the goals and activities of the Westcoast Community Resources Society as well as the Transition House program
  7. Awareness of and willingness to work on personal issues and triggers as they arise
  8. A moderate level of physical fitness is required to fulfill the expectations of this position
  9. Use of a reliable vehicle for work, and a full class 5 BC Drivers License with appropriate insurance
  10. Successful criminal record check
  11. Level 1 first aid with CPR
  12. Food safe certification
  13. Non-Violent crisis intervention training and/or mental health first aid training
