Tofino Kombucha launched in the spring of 2017 and has now grown into a thriving and everexpanding kombucha brewery and we need an assistant brewer that wants to grow with us! Are you a hard working, dedicated and a self-directed person with a positive attitude that loves kombucha as much as we do?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the brewing of kombucha in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 
  • Measure and document ingredients, sources, lot numbers, Ph readings, etc 
  • Adherence to and compliance with Food Safety and Sanitation Plans 
  • Clean and sanitize kegs, fermentation vessels, and brite tanks 
  • Operate boilers, pumps and other brewery equipment 
  • Keep inventory of raw ingredients, packaging materials and finished products 
  • Bottle & Keg kombucha 
  • Build strong relationships with accounts by providing consistent, excellent customer service 
  • Perform and complete other additional projects, duties, and assignments as required 
  • Exercise extreme discretion when dealing with all proprietary information at all times 
  • Represent the company at events by pouring kombucha and engaging with event participants 
Qualifications 
  • Must have interest in kombucha, tea, brewing and fermentation 
  • Ability to strictly follow SOPs and product recipes 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work independently 
  • Ability to work in an efficient production environment while maintaining attention to detail 
  • Strong logistics, record keeping and time management skills 
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written 
  • Being proactive in learning and staying up to date in production methods 
  • General computer knowledge / skills 
  • Strong personal hygiene and cleanliness 
  • Ability to competently drive, park and deliver kombucha around Tofino and Ucluelet
  • Essential Job Functions: 
  • Stand for long periods of time with frequent bending and stooping 
  • Frequent lifting with hands and arms and frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs 
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation 
  • Occasional use of ladders • Work in wet and cold or hot and humid environments and subject to noise 
  • Work with dangerous and hazardous cleaning chemicals Experience: 
  • Experience in a brewery, winery, kitchen, food manufacturing or production an asset but not required, willing to train the right person

 

Required License or Certification: 

  • Driver's License 
  • Food Safe Level 1 (not required to apply but must obtain if hired)
