POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a reliable, hands on Caretaker to support the year-round operation of our campground. This is ideally an onsite position, with a staff site provided (water, sewer, electric). Candidates must have their own unit. Local applicants will also be considered if they can reliably commute throughout the year.‑on Caretaker to support the year‑round operation of our campground. The Caretaker plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests. The role includes full‑time hours during the main season and reduced winter hours focused on essential janitorial work, site checks, and general onsite duties.

Wage $20/hr


WEEKLY HOURS BY SEASON

April
• 32 hours/week
• 4 days × 8 hours (e.g., Wed–Sat)

May – September 7
• 40 hours/week
• 5 days × 8 hours (Wed–Sun)

September 8 – October 15
• 24 hours/week
• 3 days × 8 hours (Fri–Sun)

Post October 15th
• 15 hours/week
• 5 days × 3 hours 11:00 am – 2:00pm (janitorial, site checks, general onsite duties)

On Call Requirement

VACATION PAY

The caretaker earns vacation in accordance with BC Employment Standards, at 4% of gross wages, equivalent to two weeks of paid vacation per year. Vacation pay is accrued throughout the year rather than paid out on each payroll.


UNIFORM & PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

WORK–LIFE BALANCE, OVERTIME & ON‑CALL COVERAGE

We value a healthy work–life balance and aim to schedule staff in a predictable and sustainable way. Overtime is not expected in this role; however, if additional hours are required, they will be paid in full accordance with BC Employment Standards, including overtime rates where applicable.

During peak season, the caretaker may be scheduled for up to two on call evenings per week, specifically Wednesday and Thursday evenings. On call time is not considered working time unless the caretaker is called out. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grounds & Facilities
• Litter picking, grass cutting, fire pit clearing, trail checks
• General DIY and maintenance
• Fence building, landscaping, constructing picnic tables and planters
• Light plumbing and electrical tasks (no licensed)
• Washroom cleaning and refresh
• Recycling and sanitation duties
Winter: janitorial, site checks, essential upkeep)‑licensed)

Guest & Office Support
• Operating online reservation software
• Assisting guests with basic inquiries
• Supporting office staff when required
• Providing customer service and campground presence
• Bear safety awareness and guest education

 

Team & Safety
• Following all WorkSafe BC rules and safety procedures
• Working independently or as part of a team
• Participating in monthly team meetings during peak season

 

STAFF SITE

• Water, sewer, and electric hookups provided
• Must have your own RV/trailer/unit
• Access to shared washroom facilities
• Quiet hours and site rules apply
• Local candidates considered if able to commute reliably


Qualifications 

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all-weather
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic DIY, landscaping, plumbing, and electrical abilities
• Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively solving mindset‑solving mindset
