Details:

North Island College is seeking a qualified instructor for the Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technician Foundation Harmonized program at our Campbell River Campus. Responsibilities include teaching pre-apprentice students to provincial outcomes and standards following the ITA requirements for Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technician Foundation Harmonized as well as teaching apprentices in technical training classes. Instruction will be delivered face-to-face. Other responsibilities include program development and lesson planning, tool and equipment maintenance, and liaison with regional employers.

Qualifications 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Journeyperson Interprovincial Qualification as an Automotive Refinishing Technician (Red Seal)
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an Automotive Refinishing Technician Journeyperson
  • Preference to a minimum of one-year teaching experience and Provincial Instructor’s Diploma (PID)
  • Familiarity with the Auto Body and Collision Technician and Automotive Refinishing Technician program outlines
  • Experience setting up training programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with a variety of learning technologies and digital tools
  • Demonstrated excellent instructional abilities, using creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning, including the use of instructional technologies within an online learning environment
  • Experience with blended learning, ability to build online theory components in a learning platform, ability to translate face-to-face content delivery
  • Able to choose and use appropriate learning technologies, troubleshoot issues and support learners while engaged in an online or blended course environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and cooperatively in a team environment with online faculty, coordinators, online student groups, employers and staff.
