The Tofino Public Market Society is seeking a Market Coordinator. This is a part-time contract position starting as soon as possible.

Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, fluctuating over the course of the year. This includes working on-site at the Tofino Public Market located on the Tofino Village Green every Saturday during Market Season from 7:30am-2:30pm and additional administration hours from home.

Employer: The Tofino Public Market Society (TPMS) promotes and coordinates a community of local artisan vendors representing the West Coast of Vancouver Island in a festive Saturday marketplace environment. The TPMS is a registered non-profit Society and the Market Coordinator reports directly the Board of Directors.

Wage: Competitive hourly wage based on experience

Job Description: The Tofino Market Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Tofino Market, combining administrative tasks and on-site event coordination, while acting as a liaison between the Board of Directors, vendors and Market attendees.

Duties include:
- Overseeing all aspects of the Tofino Market on-site each Saturday on the Tofino Village
Green from May Long Weekend through to Thanksgving Long Weekend; including set-up, tear down, assigning vendor sites, facilitating entertainment acts and enforcing TPMS Guidelines for vendors and public
- Vendor renewals and pre-season marketing/advertising and communications
- Responding to vendor inquiries and registrations by phone and email
- Booking weekly entertainment acts and artists for the gazebo stage
- Basic accounting functions and budgeting
- Website and Social Meidal posts and updates
- Planning and Coordinating the Winter Artisan Market in December
- Scheduling and attending Board meetings, completing grant applications and post-event reports


- Very strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds, exercising sensitivity while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Previous experience in event management, supervision, marketing and/or administration
- On-site shifts involve working on your feet, with some lifting required
- Proficiency with social media an asset. Use of own computer required.
