We are hiring for our Coffee Bar team: Junior Barista/counter position – P/T seasonal.

The Foggy Bean Coffee Bar is looking for summer seasonal members for our team. The Junior Barista /counter position is perfect for someone starting their career in coffee and looking to gain a strong foundation in espresso. Training starts early July and will continue until September 2nd. There is a possibility to continue into the fall and winter. We pour our own coffee which is roasted at our headquarters in Ucluelet.

Duties:

  •  Welcome customers and demonstrate product knowledge
  • Take customer orders, process payments and cash-outs
  •  Prepare iced drinks, a local tea menu and filter coffee
  •  Pour espresso, steam milk and adjust the grinders with supervision.
  •  Working as a part of our small team
  •  Maintain a clean and well organized work space
  •  Open and closing duties. Including dishwashing, cleaning front and back-of-house, resetting the space for next day service and restocking retail items
Qualifications 

We are looking for the following qualities in our ideal candidates:

  •   Interest in learning about speciality coffee and offering excellent service and products to our customers.
  •  Good with people and strong communication skills
  • Able to work well with others as well as independently
  •  Self motivated to develop your skills
  •  Detail oriented and clean (We have high standards for coffee and the cleanliness of our space)
  •  Reliable and calm under pressure
  •  Minimum one year customer service experience
  •  Food Safety certificate or willingness to take the course
  •  Secondary School diploma or equivalent

What we can offer:

  •  $18/hr, plus tips.
  •  The work day is 7:30am – 3:00pm, lots of shifts available.
  •  If you need your FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate and complete the summer with us, we will reimburse you .
  •  A monthly schedule – know your scheduled working days for the month so you can plan your summer adventures.
  •  Free drinks while on-shift, discounts when not working, weekly coffee beans & discounts on shop retail and beans.
  •  Experience in all aspects of a coffee bar – grow your skills.
