As the Asset Protection Officer with Ucluelet Co-op you will be responsible for preventing financial loss from theft and fraud. You will investigate, detain suspects, complete incident reports, cooperate with local law enforcement and if necessary, testify in court.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude
  • Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
  • Provide outstanding courteous customer service
  • Observes, detects and investigates internal and external theft threats
  • Walks the sales floor, warehouse and perimeter to monitor safety and security concern
  • Reports potential internal theft situations to general manager
  • Detains and interviews shoplifters when warranted
  • Prepares reports for internal use and for potential prosecution
  • Maintains evidence collected and report files from investigations
  • Testifies in court concerning theft investigations
  • Communicates with department managers and local businesses to exchange information about current local theft threats
  • Conduct enforcement and protective duties to ensure guests and team members’ safety and security of property
  • Respond to all emergency conditions like safety hazards, fire, threats to life or property etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, fire alarms and sprinkler systems
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all Co-op policies and procedures along with all legislated safety rules and regulations
  • Contribute to the team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Excellence, and Responsibility
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications 

Qualifications:

  • A secondary school diploma is preferred
  • First Aid training considered an asset
  • BC Security Worker License required
  • Previous loss prevention or security experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Communication, observation, problem solving skills required

Working Conditions:

Flexible, must be willing to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings as well as weekends and holidays based on the business needs
