Tofino Harbour Authority (THA) is a non-profit organization that manages three federal fishing docks in
Tofino, Canada. THA is made up of a team of management staff and a volunteer Board of Directors who
work collaboratively to manage the facilities in accordance with the Small Craft Harbours, Fisheries and
Oceans Canada, mandate to ensure core fishing harbours are kept open and in good repair.

We currently are accepting applicants to fill a full-time position of Wharfinger for the Tofino Harbour
Authority. Successful applicants should be reliable, professional, motivated, positive, and enjoy working
outdoors in all weather.

Application deadline is February 15th at 5pm PST.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Perform multiple daily foot patrols of all docks and upland facilities to ensure that facilities are safe and functional

- Perform daily boat counts and manage parking enforcement

- Responsible for maintenance of all Harbour equipment and infrastructure

- Enforce harbour policies in a professional manner

- Daily cleaning of facilities

- Respond accordingly to emergencies onsite

- Provide customer service to Harbour users and members of the public

- Collect fees for use of the public boat ramp, moorage, and all other services provided by THA using a computer based POS System.

 - Ensure all harbour users comply with all Harbour Authority rules and regulations, and enforce rules and regulations when necessary

- Manage garbage and recycling facilities, sort oil recycling, maintain litter-free facilities

- Other tasks and duties as required by Harbour Manager

Qualifications 

- Maintenance experience (building maintenance, light carpentry and plumbing)
- Possess exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Able to perform extensive foot patrols in all weather conditions
- Exellent computer skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Marine industry experience is an asset.
- Must have local (Tofino) Accommodation
