Reporting to the Executive Director, the Campaign and Donor Relations Lead raises funds in support of the $10 million Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Centre project and supports the philanthropic objectives of current and potential CBT donors. This individual is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, namely interested individuals, foundations, and corporations.

The Campaign and Donor Relations Lead has overall responsibility for the planning and execution of the day-to-day operations of the capital fundraising campaign. They will work closely with campaign counsel, volunteers, CBT leadership, and colleagues to identify a pool of potential donors and develop tailored strategies to secure philanthropic gifts.

In addition, the Campaign and Donor Relations Lead will ensure donor records are maintained in the donor database and lead CBT’s donor stewardship efforts to build a strong community of support.

In-person participation is expected in donor meetings, volunteer meetings, some team meetings, and events. Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.

Our office is in Tofino. The CBT has the systems in place to support working from any location in the region and currently, employees are both working from home and in our offices. We can discuss the conditions required to meet our off-site work policy.

The successful applicant can expect a yearly base salary of $67,000 - $73,000 depending on skills and experience (prorated according to the number of days per week). CBT will consider a 3- or 4-day work week for the right individual. The CBT also offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a term position starting as soon as possible and continuing until December 31, 2022 with the potential to extend based on campaign progress and the needs of the organization.

Qualifications 

You are a self-starter with strong relationship-development and interpersonal skills, organizational and planning skills, and a high degree of professionalism, tact, and discretion. You bring:

  • Direct major-gift, leadership giving, or related fundraising experience (preferred)
  • Relevant transferable skills are welcome, such as relationship development, business development, sales, and community engagement
  • Experience in an external-facing/relationship-based role in the Clayoquot Biosphere Region
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably with a specialization in fundraising, business administration, marketing, public relations, or communication; a combination of experience/education will be considered
  • Understanding of the fundraising cycle with the ability to identify, solicit, and secure major gifts
  • Exceptional ability to prepare original written materials associated with management of donors and prospects
  • Knowledge of conservation and sustainable development (preferred)
  • Significant experience in working in a cross-cultural setting (preferred)
  • Knowledge of First Nations communities and priorities in the Biosphere Region (preferred)
  • A willingness to learn and a strong passion for the Biosphere Region
