Westcoast Community Resources Society is a charitable organization which shares the community’s vision that every member’s well-being is ensured. We have a number of ministry funded programs providing free and confidential services to community members on the west coast. The Community Outreach Worker promotes WCRS and its services to the west coast communities through planning, implementing and coordinating drop in and outreach activities as well participating in community-based program development and evaluation. This position requires union membership.

Qualifications 

 

  1.  A diploma in human/social services or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. One to three years previous work in a similar environment required.
  3. Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support systems
  4. Full & valid BC Drivers License, own vehicle in good working condition and appropriate insurance
  5. Basic First Aid training
  6. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  7. Food Safe certification

 

Skills:

  1. Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications
  2. Knowledge of west coast communities
  3. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  4. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  5. Excellent time management and organizational skills
  6. Crisis intervention skills
  7. Exceptional interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
