We're Looking for a Special Kind of Educator!

Marigold Montessori School | Port Alberni, BC

Are you an Early Childhood Educator who loves bringing creativity, curiosity, and richness to a child's world? Do you believe childhood should be filled with meaningful experiences, opportunities to explore, create, discover, and develop a lifelong love of learning?

Marigold Montessori School is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and nurturing ECE educator to join our team.

We are looking for someone who brings their own interests, talents, and passions into the classroom. Someone who enjoys creating a beautiful, engaging environment and understands that some of the most meaningful learning happens through everyday experiences, hands-on exploration, and following a child's natural curiosity.

Our classroom and curriculum

Our classroom is thoughtfully prepared to encourage independence, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning. Children are encouraged to care for their environment and take ownership of their daily routines. They learn to select their own activities, return materials when they are finished, wash their own dishes, and participate in caring for their classroom.

We offer a rich, well-rounded Montessori curriculum that provides opportunities for children to explore and develop skills in:

- Language and early literacy

- Mathematics and numeracy

- Science and nature

- Geography and cultural studies

- Fine motor development and practical life

- Art, music, and creative expression

- Social and emotional development

- Independence, problem-solving, and everyday life skills

We are looking for an educator who appreciates this approach and enjoys supporting children as they become increasingly capable, confident, and independent.

What we're offering:

We recognize that the right person may have different availability or be looking for different opportunities. There is flexibility in how this position develops, with the potential for:

- Substitute work

- Part-time employment

- Full-time employment

There is no immediate start-date requirement. We would love to find the right person and work together to plan a start date that makes sense for everyone.

A little about us:

Marigold Montessori School is a small, growing Montessori school in Port Alberni. We value meaningful relationships, independence, creativity, nature, practical life experiences, and allowing children the time and space to explore their interests.

Our goal is to create an environment where children are respected as capable individuals and where educators have the opportunity to bring their own creativity, interests, and talents into the learning environment.

If this sounds like the kind of place where you would love to work, we would love to hear from you!

Qualifications

The kind of person we're hoping to find:

- Has a genuine passion for early childhood education and creating a rich, meaningful learning environment.

- Is interested in Montessori philosophy and motivated to deepen their understanding of Montessori education.

- Has an appreciation for nature, the outdoors, and helping children develop a connection with the natural world.

- Enjoys traditional hands-on crafts and creative activities such as beading, sewing, weaving, embroidery, felting, and other beautiful, practical arts.

- Loves singing, sharing stories, reading books, and bringing music and language into the classroom.

- Enjoys following the child, observing their interests, and finding ways to extend their learning.

- Is confident leading circle time and enjoys bringing stories, songs, discussions, and engaging experiences to a group of children.

- Is creative and enjoys developing art invitations and hands-on activities that inspire children's imaginations.

- Is comfortable guiding children's behaviour with patience, respect, and positive redirection.

- Values teamwork, open communication, and working collaboratively in a respectful and supportive environment.

Must have ECE Certification, a criminal record check and ideally first aid. ECEA Certification may be accepted for the right person.
