The Program

In Your Role You Will

• Ensure staff utilize practices that promote the health, welfare, safety and security of service recipients and staff. Leading behavioural/intervention strategies, ensuring best practice and evidence-based practices are utilized in behavioural support plans
• Assist in providing initial and ongoing assessment/case management of youth behavioural needs and functional abilities to include review of supporting documents/previously completed assessments.
• Assist in developing, defining, and monitoring individualized service plans based on needs as well as behavioral priorities of youth, making recommendations for achieving goals.
• Assist in developing safety plans/protocols for youth and staff, leading implementation, and assuring compliance and quality of safety plans.
• Supervise and evaluate performance of program staff; coordinate work allocation, training and problem resolution; motivate employees to peak performance and productivity.
• Ensure the program and staff comply with policies, procedures and values of the company and use best practices when supporting persons served.
• Conducting program/specialized service risk management assessments.
• Establish and implement short- and long-term goals, objectives and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement.
• Participate and/or facilitate staff meetings and case reviews/conferences as required.
• Comply with and utilize appropriate crisis prevention and intervention standards and practices.
• Creating training material, facilitating training, coaching, and mentoring staff on implementation of specialized practice intervention/strategies (approaches, best practice, trauma informed and mental health) specific to persons served and service delivery.
• Ensure staff who dispense medication to service recipients receive appropriate training and that all medication is dispensed according to the company’s established guidelines.
• Provide on-call and emergency coverage as required.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required.

The Position

Mandatory Pre-Employment Screenings and Checks

***Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter. These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess

• A degree in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field
• 3-5 years leadership experience in the social services field
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Experience with adult services and/or CLBC is imperative
• Must have experience with financial and human resource management
• Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and CPR certificates required
• Strong conflict resolution, mediation and crisis prevention and intervention techniques
• Experience with trauma informed practices
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract

**Successful applicants will be required to participate in MCFD screening prior to confirmed employment with Mountainside Support Services.**

Applicants will be required to provide three (3) professional references that Mountainside Support Services will be able to contact in a timely manner at time of interview.

Mountainside Support Services adheres to provincial/legislated communicable disease prevention protocols. Some of our community health care providers/stakeholders may require Mountainside Support Services employees to be vaccinated in order to be able to enter establishments while supporting individuals/clients in service.

The Valley Dental team located in Port Alberni, BC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Dental Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. Our clinic offers a comfortable, modern workspace in a supportive team environment. We have 2 dentists, 3 hygienists, 4 dental assistants, and 3 administrative staff.

The CDA will provide chairside assistance to the dentist during dental procedures and perform various tasks to ensure smooth operations in the dental office. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and have a solid understanding of dental procedures and terminology.

Tasks would include:

• Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing instruments, maintaining patient comfort, and ensuring a sterile environment
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, including sterilizing instruments and setting up equipment
• Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
• Provide post-operative instructions to patients and answer any questions or concerns they may have
• Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medical history

Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
• X-ray certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or coronal polishing are a plus
• Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology

The Journeyman Plumber performs skilled technical work in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of domestic water systems, heating water systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewers and gas pipe following recognized procedures and techniques of the plumbing trade.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required. Completion of a plumbing vocational/technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program in the plumbing trade is preferred.

Experience:

Successful experience in the plumbing trade is required. Documented journeyman status is required. A working knowledge of building and plumbing codes is required.
